Attract Better Developers

Elevator Pitch

Get more bang for engineering recruitment bucks, attract and retain better engineers to promote an organization's growth and longevity.

Details

Looking at an organization web site's Markup can give prospective hires interesting insights into its culture and its ability to survive in a competitive marketplace.

Are documents obviously authored with a WYSIWIG editor? Is there any semantic structure to the Markup? Are they even following basic Search Engine Optimization guidelines or is the document simply built with a slew of embedded images with some text? Does the Markup validate with http://validator.w3.org/ ? What does the site look like on a Treo?

While the relevance of these questions might vary from one organization to the other, skilled engineers will pay attention to some of these details, and formulate an initial opinion as to what kind of mess they may be stepping into.
